I wrote a book!

We are all Orange! Every person on this earth is orange. We may be different variations of orange, however all of our skin tones, shades, and versions are found in the hue spectrum of orange. We are all walking around in a huge orange onesie. The color orange is responsible for our skin color and hair color. Knowing your orange is the best gift you can give yourself. It is the key to unlocking your strength and I explain why in this book.

In color psychology the color orange equates with Strength! Orange offers emotional strength. It is energetic and positive.

A little over 10 years ago I attended, for the purposes of simplicity in an explanation, a continuing education workshop on color analysis. I had recently went through the grueling process of growing out my hair and allowing my grey tresses to be exposed. The result was beautiful, truly. My husband thought I looked "hot"! All people including young men and women, would stop me in the grocery store, the gas pump, the street, the park, basically everywhere to compliment me on my hair and even take photos!

At this workshop I was told by a prominent Image Consultant that I looked old and unfashionable, in front of others. A much younger, less secure Darin, even with all that positive reinforcement would have ran to the nearest beauty supply store or grocery and grabbed a bottle of XYZ hair dye for instant correction. I did not, instead I became angry and wrote the original draft of this book which will become a series on color, the first on Strength my/our connection with the color orange.

During my nine hour drive home I angrily wrote the draft for 10 books on color theory and the intentional use of color. My dream is to connect as many people to their unique individual power sources, their rainbow of color, and teach them how to use color intentionally, with power.

After taking a breath and recovering from writers cramp, I realized that I wasn't mad at this image consultant even though she embarrassed me in front of others. I realized that the root of my anger was my own disappointment with myself for being sucked into this mindset, but also with the culture for the unhealthy standard that leaves so many of us dreading any indication we are no longer 18.

My journey of discovery has taken many years and thousands of hours of research, I stopped counting at 17,000. It is fair to say that I am obsessed with color. To celebrate my book launch and 26 years in business I am throwing an ORANGEOUSLY GREAT PARTY on June 24th at the Chattery a local non-profit that is an asset to Chattanooga and led by two women I admire greatly.
